I’ve been coached by Mike for about 3 years now, and in that time my understanding of triathlon, nutrition, training, discipline, and how to get the best out of my body has grown exponentially. Mike is a fountain of knowledge and his generosity with information and is time is palpable. I know that Mike keeps on top of the latest research and shares with his athletes what he finds out about the current thinking on ways to approach training and racing. This has undoubtedly impacted my performance and also confidence as an athlete.

In the time I have trained with Mike and the Mad4Tri crew, I have completed four 70.3 races, one full Ironman and the Norseman Extreme Triathlon, alongside countless other shorter local triathlons, adventure races and running races. Mike’s plans are always tailored to me and respond to what I want to achieve in line with how much time I can give to my training, and they have helped me to develop a good mindset and discipline for the sport whilst also making me a competitive athlete. Many things I have achieved in the last few years would not have been possible without Mike’s constant support, encouragement, and fantastic coaching!

Having been out of triathlon for 25+years a friend challenged me to complete Dubai 70.3 in 2017. I did it with a months haphazard ad-hoc training! Not appreciating the quality and dedication to training required, I surprised myself with my achievement of 5:38. After meeting with Mike and discussing my ambition to smash my 70.3 time, he agreed to coach me and developed my training programme around a local race calendar building towards Dubai the following year. Mike's dedication and advice enabled me to smash my time with a 4:43 finish, he convinced me I had it in me to qualify for 70.3 World Champs. I went on to age group podium in Vietnam, qualifying for the 70.3 WC in PE (2018), 1st place age group Bahrain qualifying for WC in Nice (2019), 1st place Astana qualifying for WC in New Zealand (2020). Mike's knowledge and dedication is faultless, he's challenged me well beyond my own boundaries and understanding. Thanks Mike for being patient and encouraging me to realize my true potential.

I like very much how the trainings are structured and built up. I feel it’s a very “clever” and “studied” way. Sometimes just need some adjustments for each person (period cycle, break habits before racing). Good initiative that we started the group running trainings even for technique and motivation.

My own personal success story is that first time when i went to the free TRX session i never ever thought that one day i could be qualified to the World Championship. It “seems” a fast journey for me if I consider that i didn’t swim at all before.

I am very happy that I started my triathlon training with Mike.

I could already swim, bike and run but I had no idea about how to be a triathlete, how to train and how to pull it all together. I had limited time, I needed a goal and I needed direction. As a working mum, my schedule changes a lot. Mike assessed my fitness and capability, the hours and times I had available and put together a detailed programme, monitored me, crunched the numbers and did all the hard analysis work, I just did what I was told! The result was regular podium finishes in local races, my confidence and hunger to push myself grew and within four months I completed a 5:34 half Ironman. You cannot underestimate the value of a good coach: sound advice based on a wealth of experience and knowledge. Thanks for everything Mike!

I have been always into exercise since childhood rarely I have missed a training day. I thought doing a triathlon would be an easy ride and I won’t be needing a coach to go through an Ironman 70.3. I did my first Olympic triathlon to test my level of fitness I was surprised to see how much efforts a triathlon would need and the level of fitness you require to get through one. Post the Olympic race I changed my perception of triathlon training. It’s a science, it’s a discipline and it’s a dedication. I started with Mike back in November 2016 training for my first ever Ironman 70.3 it was already too late for Dubai 70.3 which was taken plan by end of January 2017, but still, Mike accepted to coach me and get me ready for this race. I managed to finish my race with 5hr 55min which was my target to finish below 6 hours. I continued training with Mike and I did my 3rd 70.3 in February 2020 finishing with 5hr 12min! Thank you Mike for all the support, pushes out of the comfort zone, and all the tips. I would highly recommend Mike for a coaching session 100% genuine and passionate coach that goes always the extra mile to get you through your training and goals.
